The individual state and DC health insurance exchanges under the ObamaCare law allow small businesses with fewer than 50 "full-time" employees to purchase insurance for their employees on the exchanges. The U.S. Congress purchases its health insurance under the DC health insurance exchange, which under the District of Columbia law setting it up has the ObamaCare law required limit on institutional entities that may use it of fewer than 50 full-time employees. Under ObamaCare law, a full time employee is anyone working 30 or more hours a week.
According to the DC Health Benefit Exchange Authority, at least 12,359 employees or dependents of employees of Congress are receiving their health insurance plans from the DC Exchange. Because they are receiving their benefits from the DC exchange, many are receiving the federal subsidies offered on state exchanges. The House of Representatives attested under penalty of law that it had 45 employees. The Senate made the same statement that it had 45 employees. This was revealed by Judicial Watch when it obtained documents under the Freedom of Information Act. The DC government has acknowledged that their purchases of insurance on the exchange are a breech of DC law, but has yet to do anything about it.
When the House of Representatives attested that it had 45 employees, it was under Republican control. When the Senate made the same statement, it was under Democrat control. Both parties engaged in patently illegal activity for the monetary gain of the 437 members of the House, the 100 Senators, and their thousands of staff employees.
These are the same reprobates who controlled the acquisition of $3.0 trillion of federal revenue in 2014, spending of $3.5 trillion, and the imposition of another $1.5 trillion in regulatory costs on the private sector in 2014. It is insane to allow such lawbreakers and avaricious, unprincipled thieves have control of so much of the wealth produced by the hardworking taxpayers of the private sector.
They get away with this using the specious argument that they are correcting injustices of the private sector. In fact, such injustices as there are in the private sector are mostly avoidable simply because individuals are free there to associate or not with others based on their own judgment of the fairness of their interactions. None of us are allowed to disassociate ourselves from the government and its employees who very determinedly mistreat those of us in the private sector. We are forced, yes forced, to submit to their myriad, complex, ubiquitous predations. Congress and government bureaucrats spend every working hour studying and implementing ways to use their nearly unbridled power over us to their advantage and our subjugation.
The only answer to this predation is for the People to insist on the most principled and strict application of the Constitution to severely limit the actions of Congress and the federal government generally. The size and scope of this out-of-control Big Government monster must be slashed until it performs only its legitimate role of protecting the equal, sovereign rights of the individual.

Obama's Carbon Tax is Fading
Donald Lambro believes that Obama's anti-fossil fuel carbon cap-and-trade tax on all Americans will not pass Congress. Democratic Congressmen from the Midwest, which has many coal-fired power plants and factories, are turning against the idea as they realize that their constituents are not as interested in the environment as they are in economic growth. Gallup Poll asked Americans last week if given the choice between economic growth and environmental protection, 51% of Americans would now give growth priority even if the environment suffers somewhat.
Obama had been counting on the cap-and-trade tax to pay for his middle-class tax cuts after 2010 and for funding alternative energy research and development projects. He may lose the means to fund his cockamamie alternative energy dreams, but from the start of his administration he has consistently taken actions to hurt the oil and coal industries and everyone who uses oil and coal. He has increased regulations and taxes on these industries already. His $4 trillion budget is full of anti-fossil fuel provisions designed to increase energy costs, kill jobs in the oil, gas, and coal industries, and to make us more dependent upon foreign oil. Obama has shut down all efforts to increase oil and gas exploration, development, and production. He has denied permits to drill for oil and gas in the Gulf of Mexico and shut down hopes of doing so in ANWR. He is adding a 25% tax on all oil production and a 15% tax on all natural gas production in the Gulf of Mexico as part of his budget. This will kill jobs in the Gulf states, not to mention the effect it will have on everyone in higher fuel costs.
The House had been committed to making its offices carbon neutral. But last month, they dropped this plan. Meanwhile, the Capitol Power Plant, a few blocks from the Capitol, burns coal for 35% of the power it produces. It is the leading source of air pollution in the District of Columbia. The Democrat Congress will not apply the same rules to itself which it has wanted to impose on the American people.

Democrats Imprison 1,700 Students
The Democrat Congress just threw 1,700 District of Columbia students back into penal holding pens pretending to be public schools. To be especially cruel, these students had been given a brief experience with a real education in private schools under a voucher program.
The D.C. public school system is a total failure. It is clear that it makes no serious effort at providing D.C. students with an education. It does provide many very poor teachers with cushy union jobs and does not make half of them even enter a classroom. It is also a generous source of money for many suppliers of goods and services. The one thing it is unbelievably good at is spending money. The D.C. school system spends about $24,600 per student (see my post of 20 Apr 08). This is not what they say they spend. They claim amounts in the range of $7,000 to $12,000 per student, usually claiming $8,322 per student. The best private schools in D.C., where Obama's children go for instance, charge about $25,000 per year. Anyone would be offended given the quality of a D.C. public school education if they understood how much D.C. spends on its schools. Especially when the school system is always claiming that if it only had a reasonable amount of money, it would educate the students. They always want more.
Given this fact alone, the voucher program which provides $7500 per year to a D.C. student from a poor family to attend a private school is a huge money-saver for the D.C. taxpayer and the Federal government which gives the D.C. school system so much aid. It also allows a poor D.C. student to actually get an education and to have the options in life that come with an education. But, our Democrat Congress, which so poses as the champion of the poor, has most cruelly sent the formerly lucky 1,700 students back to jail. Let them see the light briefly, then throw them back into the blackest pit.
Why do they do such horrible things? Because the public school teacher's union wants them to and the Democrats owe them hugely for their election support. The students are unimportant. Being elected and put in power is all that is important. These are the Democrat champions of the underdog. Well, in order to be that, they must turn human beings into dogs and they must bury them six feet under in ignorance. The Democrats want to sustain the union teachers who do not teach and to create the underdogs they can pretend to champion!
